About our school
A school built by parents who did not want the language to stop with them.
The Telugu School of Edmonton was founded by a small group of parents and grandparents who wanted their children to keep the language their family speaks.
Today we teach around 85 children across levelled groups, both in person and online, taught entirely by volunteers from the Edmonton Telugu community. In-person classes run every Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.
Our classes are levelled rather than age-graded, because a child who speaks Telugu at home and a child meeting the script for the first time need different starting points, not different amounts of encouragement.
